Knee injury and jogging

When a person jogs they oftentimes acquire some sort of injury to the knee. Many lifelong joggers have to have knee replacement surgery later in life. This is because jogging can be very hard on the knee. There is a lot of impact and pressure being put on the knee.

A knee injury might consist of pain on either side of the knee. This type of injury can happen to joggers, tennis players, basketball players and other athletes. There are several ways to tell if you have a knee injury. A knee injury can happen to a beginner or experienced runner. There are certain symptoms that occur that may be more noticeable when you extend your mileage. The pain may not occur instantly but instead after you have completed your jog or the next day.

If you have a knee injury you may experience pain when you are running downhill, walking down stairs or walking after you have been sitting for awhile. You may also experience pain when you first get up in the morning because you knee has become stiff. This can also be a sign of early arthritis.

There are several jogging conditions that may have caused the injury. These conditions include jogging on banked surfaces, dramatic increases in mileage, wearing the wrong type of shoes, a lot of speed work when you run and running up a lot of hills. Al of these factors can cause a jogger to have a knee injury.

If you have a knee injury your foot is probably built in a way that causes it to make the wrong type of movement each time it hits the ground. This means that your shin bone and your knee are also moving in the wrong direction. When your foot, shin bone and knee move the wrong way this is what causes pain.

If you have a knee injury there are several stretches that you can perform before and after you jog. These stretches will help to build the strength back up in your knee. If you suspect that you have a knee injury you should consult with your physician.

If you have a serious knee injury your doctor may recommend physical therapy or a different form of exercise. It is important to not over exert yourself as you could make your knee injury worse. A knee injury will usually heal within time.
